Chairman’s Annual Report
Please see below the chairman’s report from the recent annual parish meeting.
As the current Chairwoman of Mobberley Parish Council I am pleased to Chair this year’s Annual Parish Meeting, which is an opportunity for our parishioners to raise any matter they wish in relation to our Parish.
It has been such a difficult prolonged period for so many, but it has been wonderful to see the sense of community that has come to the forefront since the pandemic began. Voluntary groups and organisations have worked extremely hard to support those who have been struggling to cope or simply needed some support with everyday tasks.
As we continue to emerge from the pandemic this year, it is so enlightening to see society getting back to a new normal. While the world of work has changed, our everyday lives of nipping to the shop, hugging friends, and attending large events has regained momentum and feels back to pre-pandemic levels.
The village has various celebrations to look forward to this year, the Queens Platinum Jubilee, the 100 years of the Rose Queen and the Centenary of the Victory Hall to name a few. These celebrations will certainly feel extra special this year, given the 2 years of solitude many have faced.
The Mobberley Parish Council are working on and towards various projects in the village. You may have noticed that we have some new benches dotted around the village, thanks to funding from Manchester Airport we have been able to carry out this work. We are currently working towards adding some new 24-hour access defibrillators around the village to help save lives and provide reassurance for families. We are continuing to add to the earmarked funds for a new kitchen in the Victory Hall to help enable and support growth of the events on offer. We are also continuing to add to the earmarked funds for a new path on the community meadow to allow more access to people with prams, wheelchairs, and any other disabilities. There are also several smaller initiatives / improvements being carried out throughout the village, so keep a look out for anything new.
Throughout the year Mobberley Parish Council has worked relentlessly behind the scenes to keep the wheels of the council turning.
We have some shout outs to make for some exceptional work this year
- Councillor Sally Kendall – We want to say a massive thank you to Sally for organising the jubilee celebrations this year. Sally coordinated an impressive 4-day event by pulling together a working group and heading up the main organisation of the events.
- Councillor Heidi Gilks – We want to say a massive thank you to Heidi for all her work carried out on the Broadoak Lane Planning Case. Heidi formed a working group who worked relentlessly to win our appeal against the Travellers and ensure the greenbelt was protected.
- Clerk Kate Marsh – Kate was new to her role last year and has had to hit the ground running. Kate has been a pillar of support to the council and has managed to achieve a fantastic audit result with zero recommendations. This hadn’t been achieved by the council before.
I would personally like to thank all the councillors for their continued support and look forward to seeing what this year will bring and how we can continue to improve our village
Thanks Hannah Moss
